WASHINGTON, DC – The Corn Refiners Association (CRA) congratulates Michael Michener on his appointment today as Administrator of USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS).
“Administrator Michener brings an extensive foreign affairs background to this position. The importance of international markets and the U.S. food and agricultural sector’s positive balance of trade to the American economy has never been greater,” said CRA president Audrae Erickson.
“The CRA values its long-standing relationship with FAS and welcomes the opportunity to continue this important collaboration to benefit the U.S. corn wet milling industry and the entire U.S. agricultural sector. We are committed to working with Administrator Michener and the entire FAS team to grow export markets, achieve a positive outcome of the World Trade Organization Doha Development Agenda, and enact the pending Free Trade Agreements,” said Erickson.

CRA is the national trade association representing the corn refining (wet milling) industry of the United States. CRA and its predecessors have served this important segment of American agribusiness since 1913. Corn refiners manufacture sweeteners, ethanol, starch, bioproducts, corn oil, and feed products from corn components such as starch, oil, protein, and fiber. The total value of exported corn wet milled products in 2008 exceeded $2.2 billion.
