Q: How did you become interested in a career in the agriculture industry?
My background is in public health, so I never saw myself going into agriculture. However, I have loved this opportunity to get involved in the agriculture industry. It is tied to health in so many ways and learning about food systems, agriculture, and policy has been a great experience.
Q: What do you like most about working at CRA?
I love the wide range of projects I get to work on in a collaborative work environment. Each of our teams have different policies they’re tracking or projects they are working on, but we all share the common goal of supporting corn refiners and sustainable food production.
Q: How has your past experience prepared you for your current role?
I just graduated from Tulane University with a degree in Public Health and Cellular Biology. I’ve had coursework and class research projects in food systems that helped prepare me for the deep dive into food policy this summer.
Q: What has working at CRA taught you?
Not only have I learned invaluable skills at CRA, but I’ve also had the chance to learn more about corn, corn refined products, and sustainable agriculture. My internship has taught me a lot about food policy but working at CRA has allowed me to gain a greater understanding of the additional policy areas such as trade, environmentalism, and sustainability.
Q: How do you spend your time away from the office? Do you have any special hobbies?
I enjoy finding good restaurants, going to museums, running, hiking, yoga, and reading. DC has been a great city to indulge in these hobbies outside the office!
