During the COVID-19 pandemic, Americans have come together like never before. From donating food to sewing face masks and so much more, communities are banding together in the fight against the coronavirus.
CRA member companies are leading the charge and serving their communities with financial support and product donations.
Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) has committed $1 million to aid in COVID-19 response. These contributions include commitments to the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, various regional and local charities, and matches to ADM employee contributions to COVID-19 relief and mitigation.
ADM has also donated food and supplies to the Northeast Community Fund in Decatur, IL, and is allowing team members with specialized medical certifications and training to take temporary paid leave to assist local health agencies.
Cargill is working with nonprofit and NGO partners to help address food security, health and safety needs, and industry challenges due to the spread of COVID-19. They are committing $35 million to COVID-19 relief and recovery efforts through global and regional partnerships, product donations, and employee personal giving.
In their U.S. headquarters community, the Cargill Foundation has donated $1 million to Minnesota Central Kitchen for emergency food relief and has turned their corporate cafeteria into a community kitchen, preparing 15,000 meals per week.
Grain Processing Corporation has worked with parent company Kent Corporation and local non-profit partners to address food insecurity being created by the pandemic. Kent Corporation will be collaborating with the Salvation Army, United Way, and MCSA to prepare nearly 300 meals every Wednesday and Thursday to be distributed to food-insecure families and individuals in its hometown of Muscatine, Iowa.
Ingredion, Inc. has worked to support the Global FoodBanking Network (GFN) with their efforts to combat hunger and provide food to people who need it around the world. They’ve increased their donation and contributed $50,000 as the number of families that need support from local food banks during this pandemic has dramatically increased. These efforts will enable food banks to provide an additional 240,000 meals to people in need during this global crisis
Roquette is supporting the local food bank near its American Headquarters in Geneva, IL by providing meals for those who can’t afford them.
Tate & Lyle is working with a national health organization to test the effectiveness of new face masks for frontline workers.
