U.S. Food and Ag Organizations Congratulate Perdue on Ag Confirmation
WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Food and Agriculture Dialogue for Trade, the largest unified coalition for the industry representing over 100 organizations and companies in the sector, today issued the following statement, applauding the Senate confirmation of Sonny Perdue as Secretary of Agriculture:
“Secretary Perdue is an experienced and respected voice in the world of food, agriculture and trade. His guidance and steady hand will be essential as this administration seeks both to renegotiate older trade agreements and also to open new markets. Today, one in ten acres on American farms goes to feed Mexico and Canada. As a result, Secretary Perdue recognizes the need to lock-in existing gains from trade while also seeking out new opportunities – in North America, the Asia-Pacific and in other important U.S. export markets.”
