Manager, Bioproducts Policy, Plant Based Products Council (PBPC) 
Manager, Workplace Safety, Corn Refiners Association (CRA) 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Manager of Bioproducts Policy for PBPC & Workplace Safety for CRA supports the development and execution of policy for both organizations. This dual responsibility role offers broad exposure to a range of policy issues confronting two leading agribusiness trade associations.  

First, the Manager of Bioproducts Policy for PBPC supports the PBPC Policy Committee at the direction of the Executive Director of PBPC. CRA is a major sponsor of PBPC and the CRA CEO serves on the Board of PBPC. The two associations are fully aligned and work together closely. 

Second, the Workplace Safety Manager of CRA supports the CRA Workplace Safety Committee at the direction of the Director of Sustainability and Environmental Affairs, who reports to the President & CEO of the CRA. 

DUTIES: 

  • Lead PBPC’s policy work on composting and bioplastics, developing and implementing policy strategies to advance industry goals 
  • Oversee coordination of PBPC’s Policy Committee, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and tracking action items 
  • Manage the work of CRA’s Workplace Safety Committee, including monthly reporting of industry safety metrics and oversight of policy strategy  
  • Support CRA and PBPC’s stakeholder education efforts related to workplace safety and advanced bioproducts. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with government officials, non-profits, academia, and industry allies 
  • Regularly monitor, evaluate, analyze, and report on government policies, regulations, trends, impacts, threats, and policy opportunities. 
  • Conduct research that contributes to development of advocacy materials and strategy for CRA and PBPC 
  • Manage a CRA Policy Intern 
  • Draft written advocacy materials including advocacy alerts, formal comments on rule making, talking points, and legislative language 
  • Produce policy papers, one-pagers, talking points and relevant industry updates to CRA members and other documents, as needed, for the CRA President, PBPC Executive Director, and Boards of CRA and PBPC 
  • Present and provide strategic recommendations at CRA and PBPC Board meetings, as warranted

  • Detail oriented with ability to work well under variable time pressures 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment 
  • 2+ years of experience in related public policy area preferred 
  • High energy and motivated self-starter 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required

This is a full-time employment position in a hybrid office environment in Washington, DC.  

ABOUT CRA & PBPC 

The Corn Refiners Association (CRA) represents the corn refining industry in the United States. Corn refining transforms corn into sweeteners, bioproducts, pharmaceutical ingredients, corn oil, and more. CRA staff also administers the Plant Based Products Council (PBPC), a separate trade association launched in 2019 that represents stakeholders across the value chain, including companies manufacturing or using products, packaging, and ingredients made from renewable, plant-based materials.
