Corn Refiners Applaud Historic Confirmation of Jewel Bronaugh, PhD as Deputy Secretary of Agriculture

May 14, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC – The Corn Refiners Association (CRA) today applauds the confirmation of Jewel Bronaugh, PhD, as Deputy Secretary of Agriculture. The confirmation marks the first time a Black woman and a woman of color has held the position since the department was founded in 1862.

“We commend the Senate for confirming the nomination of Jewel Bronaugh, PhD as Deputy Secretary of Agriculture. Dr. Bronaugh’s qualifications and career-long commitment to fair and equitable governance, along with her exceptional passion and perspective on agriculture, will provide the United States Department of Agriculture with the strong support our country deserves,” said CRA President and CEO John Bode.

Previously, CRA and nearly 60 other food and agriculture associations signed a letter to Senate Agriculture Leadership recommending Dr. Bronaugh for the position. This historic confirmation underscores the impact of coordinated advocacy at the highest levels of government.
